Computer as Media
COMPUTER AS MEDIA
COMPUTER AS MEDIA
1.
Definition of Computer Based Instruction
CBI (Computer Based Instruction) is a programmed learning using
computers as the main means or tools that communicate the material to students
(Indro, 2010). At the CBI into a computer learning center (center of learning)
where the students a more active role in learning the material with the
computer's main media. In this case teaching materials arranged in a systematic
and designed using programming languages, software or software animations (such
as flash etc.) Programming learning materials include the delivery of
information, giving the example problems, tasks and practice questions.
The applicability of the CBI in learning activities can be made in
various shapes and models. Bower and Hilgard (Arifin 2007 :. 34) divided into
three learning models, namely: Tutorial, drill-practice procedures, simulating
actual problems, experiment without the use of tools and materials. Copper ed.
(Arifin, 2007: 34) divided into three learning models, namely: class
presentations, demonstrations, simulations. While Heinich, et al (Arifin 2007
:. 34) develop into six models, the tutorials, practice and training (drills
and practice), simulation (simulation), games (games), discovery (discovery),
and problem solving ( problem solving).
2.
The role of computers in the learning
- Interactive Relationship: Computers can bridge the communication links between two or more people. Computers can come up with ideas or new discourse and raise interest in the media.
- Repetition:
Computer users, especially students or lecturers and teachers can repeat the
material or teaching materials with an attractive method that has provided
computer such as music, video, or Microsoft Office.
- · Feedback and Reward: With the computer teachers or lecturers can provide suggestions or improvements and of course compliments to students who can complete the task properly. These suggestions and compliments dpaat delivered online and in real time so that other students can find advice, repairs and the praise which must also be a motivation to improve the self-potential, especially in learning.
3.
Characteristics.
- · Utilize the power of the computer (digital media and network technology or computer network).
- · Utilizing multimedia technology, so that the learning environment to be interesting, not boring and ultimately motivate learners to learn independently.
- · Utilize electronic technology, where instructors and learners, learners and fellow learners or instructors and fellow educators can communicate with relative ease without being limited by matters of protocol.
- · Using the media to be independent (self-learning materials) stored on a computer so it can be accessed by instructors and learners anytime and anywhere if the relevant need.
- · Utilize data exchange (information sharing) which interactively can be viewed at any time on the computer.
4.
Advantages and Disadvantages
- · tutorial,
- · drill and practice,
- · simulation, and
- · problem-solving.
5.
Weakness Computers For Learning Media
- · The computer tends to make people physically passive. People who develop programs based learning-technology nowadays tend to still consider learning is verbal, linear, rationalistic, and only the work the "brains". They apparently did not know of any studies on the role of the body in learning. By not getting people involved physically, CBT and WBT only utilize most of all one's resources.
- · Computers tend to only match one learning style. Some people are able to sit down and learn through computer quietly. However, most people who are kinesthetic learners, physical, and nonlinear often assume the form of computer-based learning was slow, boring, and ineffective.
- · Computers tend to be based media and not based on experience. CBT and WBT tend to be driven by the technology itself. Pembelaran this model often replace experiential learning. Thus, this learning method considers the virtual world is more important than the real world.

Visual Media
VISUAL MEDIA
1.
Definition :

generally require the interpretation of the data gatherer , their level of
reliability compared to other sources varies considerably.

Example :
Digital and printed images , photography , grapic design, fashion ,
videos, architecturals , structures and fine arts.
Visual media is seen on billboards , smartphones , news paper ,
screen projectors , poster , television computer and various other mediums and
devices.
3.
characteristic/principle :
- · size : large element have more visual eight than sma elements.
- · color : warm coors advance into the foreground and thnd to weight more then cool colors , which recide into the back ground . red is considered the heaviest color and yellow the lightest.
- · value : dark elements have more visual weight than light elements .
- · position : elements located higher in the composition are perceived to weight more
- texture : textured elements appear heavierthan non-textured objects. Texture an elements appear three dimensional . which gives the apperance of mass and physical weight.
- · Shape : objects with a regular shape appear heavier than objects with an irregular shape. The irregularity gives the impression that mass has been removed from a regular shape .
- · Orientation : vertical objects appear heavier than horizontal objects. . diagonal elements carry the most weight.you dont have limit your self to the primitive features above .you can use additional charactheristic to control visual weight .
4.
Advantages
it actualy shows the repoys compete details in its perfect image.,
faster and easier , facia expression , people involved , intensity of an
accident , ambiance of the place and viewer’s “may” analyze get to know things
clearly with an instant glance.
5.
Disadvantage
this may only concern children it is ther’re instant window of what
adults are capable of doing . there are things they shouldn’t see yet , and
because matured people are in here it would see to them that they are being
thaught. Especially it is an image in action it requires no verbal
understanding for children learn form it. As simple as punching someone is what
a 3 years old child can “imitate”.
